Present tense — the light shines. Not shone, not will shine. Shines. Right now, in the darkest corners of your world, of history, of your own heart — the light is actively shining. And the darkness has not, and cannot, overcome it. This is not a contest.

Reflect

Where does darkness seem most overwhelming to you right now? Let the present-tense light of this verse speak to it.

Prayer

Lord, Your light shines in my darkness. I trust that the darkness cannot overcome it. Shine here, shine now. Amen.
