Martha was busy serving — which isn't bad. Mary was sitting at Jesus's feet — which Jesus calls the one necessary thing. You can be active in service and spiritually absent. The good portion is His presence, and it requires choosing it over the urgent.

Are you more Martha or Mary right now? What urgent thing might be crowding out the one necessary thing?
Prayer
Lord, help me choose the better portion — time at Your feet — even when the urgent things are calling. Amen.
