Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.James 1:27

James strips religion down to two things: care for the vulnerable and personal holiness. Not impressive services or theological correctness — those have their place. But the acid test of genuine faith is what you do for the defenseless and how you live privately.

Lord, make my religion real — visible in how I care for the vulnerable and how I live when no one is watching. Amen.
