You were spiritually dead — not sick, not wounded, not struggling. Dead. And God's response was not to wait for you to revive yourself. He made you alive. This is grace: life given to people who had no power to generate it.
Reflect
Do you tend to think of salvation as something you participated in, or something God did to you while you were dead? How does that change your view of grace?

Father, I was dead. You made me alive. I take no credit for that — only gratitude. Thank You. Amen.
