A Cheerful Giver2 Corinthians 9:7
No. 155
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.2 Corinthians 9:7

Cheerful in Greek is hilaros — where we get the word hilarious. God loves a giver who gives with joy, almost laughing at the delight of it. Giving born from guilt or pressure misses the whole point. Generosity should come from abundance of heart.

Reflect

What is your posture when you give — grudging, dutiful, or genuinely cheerful? What would shift your attitude?

Prayer

God, make me a hilarious giver — someone who gives with such joy it almost seems over the top. Amen.
